HK Customs seizes 1 kg ketamine at Sha Tau Kok

Hong Kong Customs said Friday that 1 kilogram of ketamine with a market value of 120,000 million HK dollars were seized at the Sha Tau Kok Control Point on March 21.

Hong Kong Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Sha Tau Kok Control Point on Thursday morning and found the drugs wrapped at his waist and legs.

The man, aged 24, who claimed to be a waiter was arrested. He was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at a local court on Friday.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is up to life imprisonment and a fine of 5 million HK dollars. (1 US dollar = 7.763 HK dollars)
