A stakeholder to every living being on earth, the air quality turns out to be a hot topic of committee members during the National People's Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference (NPC & CPPCC). The recent smoky weather in Beijing and other major cities inflamed the representatives more than once. We are hoping for a living condition that is safe, clean and healthy, which extends as far as into the cabs.

The spokesman of homegrown independent automakers, Li Shufu, the Chairman of Geely Group submitted the A Proposal to Improve In-car Air Quality and Take Precautions against In-car Environment Pollution concerning PM (Particulate Matter) 2.5 standards and the worsening air condition in cars. He advocated the admission of air quality standards into laws and suggested the enforcement of Guideline for Air Quality Assessment of Passenger Car, co-released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, which won the support of many members during the meeting. Geely always impresses us by its safe and healthy slogans and the Emgrand EC8 has set a new standard of air quality for the independent car community at home.

The Emgrand EC8 is equipped with air cleaner, which is expected to rid of odor and other poisonous gases like methanal, benzene and ammonia through a precise cleansing procedure composed of activated carbon filtration, HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air), anion and photocatalyst filter screen as well as UV lamp, providing customers with a healthier driving experience.

Last year, 22 organizations for consumers' rights joined with Beijing Municipal Institute of Labor Protection in a comparison of indoor air quality among domestic car brands and later published A Report on Automobile Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Comparison. According to the report, the poisonous gas inside the Emgrand EC8, one of the 43 sampling types, is far below the national normal standard and other 6 volatile organic compounds are hardly detected, a feat that really makes other brands envy. The Chewen.com led another investigation on PAH, a deadly cancer-causing toxin and released the Health Inspection Report which shows that among the 32 car brands and 44 types, there are 11 whose interior decorations contain cancerogen above the safe level; while the Emgrand EC8 performs extraordinarily by a only 0.2mg/kg. This makes the EC8 join the "2012 Healthy Automobiles Top 10" during the first "The Annual China Health-car and Development Forum".

Besides its indoor air quality, the body of the EC8 is safe as well. Firstly, the whole process from design to manufacturing complies strictly with the current safety regulations in Europe and C-NCAP five-star rating and adopts the leading GTSM (Geely Total Safety Management). The car body is well-balanced and further strengthened by a high strength steel plate with a specific weight of 42.8 percent and averts the excessive pressure through absorbing, breaking proof and conducting. Secondly, during the C-NCAP safety crash test, the Emgrand EC8 is awarded a five-star rating with 49.6 points, ranking the 6th among the 147 competitors. This fact shows that the safety of indigenous cars has reached even surpassed the international standard. Finally, theBlow-out Monitoring and Control System (BMCS) independently developed by Geely is applied to the EC8, which frees the car from the troubles of blow-out.

The excellent performance of the EC8 in many aspects identifies with its golden quality, green concepts and low emission slogans. Days ago, the central government proposed that foreign brands should not appear on the purchase list of the official cars, which will in turn drive the sales of homegrown cars. The EC8, with clean and healthy indoor air, will be the likeliest option for official cars and we have every reason to believe that the EC8 will continue to lead in this direction.
