A Jordanian military source on Wednesday rejected as groundless some media reports saying that two rockets had hit the Red Sea port city of Aqaba, according to state-run Petra news agency.
The source said all military and security bodies in Aqaba did not report any rockets falling into the city.
Earlier Wednesday, a rocket blasted in an open area near Israel 's southernmost resort city of Eilat located on the Red Sea, military sources confirmed to Xinhua.
An alarm went off in Eilat at about 9 a.m. local time (GMT 0600) on Wednesday morning, followed by sounds of explosions. No injuries or damage were reported in the incident.
Israel Defense Forces are currently scanning the vicinity of the blast scene to look for remains of the rocket, which they believe was launched from the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, the home base of several militant groups identified with al-Qaida.
