Iran's Esteghlal soccer club beat Qatar's Al-Rayyan 3-0 in Group D of the 2013 AFC Champions League, local media reported on Wednesday.

In the match held at Tehran Azadi stadium on Tuesday, the header of Esteghlal's captain Farhad Majidi opened the guests' goal in the last minute of the first half and the defender Hashem Beikzadeh and striker Arash Borhani scored hosts' other goals with 17 minutes remaining and in stoppage time successively.

The win secured a place for Esteghlal among the next 16 teams of the AFC Champions League competitions.

In another match of the same group, Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabi snatched a 2-0 win over Al-Ain of the UAE on Tuesday.

After five rounds of matches, Esteghlal leads the group with 10 points, followed by Al-Hilal with nine, Al-Ain with six and Al-Rayyan with four points.

On Tuesday, another Iranian representative in the competitions Sepahan defeated Al-Nasr of the United Arab Emirate in group C, however and despite the victory, it could not be qualified for the next stage of the AFC Champions League.
