The central peace making group of the Myanmar government and the Shan State Army (SSA)-North reached a four-point agreement in Tangyang, Shan state following talks between them, the Union Daily reported Sunday.

The government side was led by vice chairman of the central peace making group U Thein Zaw, while the SSA-North under the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) was headed by its vice chairman U Zin Kae Taing.

The four-point agreement called for observing the agreement reached previously , coordination of the movement of troops of the two sides, avoidance of illegal undertakings that may put burden on people and prompt and transparent discussion over problems arising out of mistrust of the two sides.

The latest talks between the two sides took place after emergence of disagreements and clashes at the bottom levels of the two sides recently.

The government and the SSA-North signed an initial five-point peace agreement at central level in Taunggyii in January 2012 which mainly cover ceasefire, allowing SSPP to base in Wanhai, opening of liaison offices in Taunggyi, Lashio and Kholan, allowing negotiated transgression and arms carrying apart from mutually-agreed areas and continued talks at central level as well as cooperation in fight against drug.

Meanwhile, the Shan State Army (SSA)-South under the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) had reached an 11-point initial peace pact with the central government in Taunggyi, Shan state, earlier in January 2012.

The government claimed that so far, 10 out of 11 ethnic armed groups have signed preliminary peace pacts with the government at state or central levels since President U Thein Sein announced peace offer with ethnic armed groups in August 2011.
