The Hollywood film Django Unchained was back on theater screens on the Chinese mainland on Sunday, after the movie was suspended for "technical reasons" on April 11, the day it premiered.
An official with Saga Cinema in downtown Beijing late Sunday said tickets for the opening showings of Django Unchained were still available.
Showings of the film were suspended after cinemas nationwide received a notice from the importer of the film, the China Film Group Corporation, according to an earlier statement at mtime.com, a popular entertainment website.
Rumors began to spread on the Internet in late April that the film had passed the country's censorship requirements again and would return to screens.
The news portal sina.com.cn quoted insiders as saying earlier that the film cut some nude scenes but other parts were not changed.
The Oscar-winning film, Quentin Tarantino's first commercial release in China, is not expected to be a big winner in terms of ticket sales as it faces fierce competition from other blockbusters, said mtime.com.
A statement posted on the website said Django Unchained is expected to rake in 60 million yuan ($9.68 million) at cinemas on the Chinese mainland.
