A symposium was held Tuesday in Beijing to commemorate late Chinese general Han Xianchu.
Li Jianguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), the national legislature, said at the symposium that Han made "outstanding contributions" to the country.
Li called on the people to carry on the traditions of the old generation of revolutionaries in order to realize the "Chinese dream" of national rejuvenation.
Han was born in 1913 and died in 1986, serving in the military all his life. He reached the rank of general in 1955.
Han once served as commander of the Lanzhou Military Area Command and vice chairman of the sixth NPC Standing Committee.
