The football club Beroe won its second Cup of Bulgaria on Wednesday in Lovech and will be one of the three Bulgarian participants in UEFA Europa League for 2013/2014 season.

In the final match, Beroe defeated PFC Levski 6-4 after penalties.

Beroe took the lead in the 16th minute and its rival equalized eight minutes later, but the team, based in Stara Zagora, some 200km east of Sofia, scored again in the 28th minute and the 79th minute respectively to make the result 3-1. Meanwhile, a Levski player was sent off after receiving second yellow card at the end of the first half.

However, Levski, 26 times champion of Bulgaria and holder of 25 national cups, came back into the match with two goals in the 80th minute and the 87th minute but presented the cup to Beroe, after missing its first three penalties after the 120 minutes.

Beroe currently holds the eight place in Bulgaria's top flight league but it had some bright successes in the past. At its greatest match Beroe defeated Juventus 1-0 in the first leg of the 1/8 final of Cup Winner's Cup tournament in 1979 but lost 3-0 in the return leg.

The club was also the country's champion in 1986, won the Cup of Bulgaria in 2010, and reached quarterfinals of the European Cup of Cups in 1974.
