Olympic champion Li Xiaoxia beat fellow Chinese Liu Shiwen 4-1 to win the women's single title at the World Table Tennis Championships here on Sunday.

Li, seeded third, defeated the second-seeded Liu 11-8, 4-11, 11-7, 12-10, 6-11, 13-11, for her first world champion.

The 25-year-old had eliminated defending champion Ding Ning to reach the final.
