The Court of Arbitration for Sport has imposed an increased two-year ban on an Uzbekistani gymnast who tested positive for doping at the London Olympics.
The International Gymnastics Federation said the court ruled in favor of a World Anti-Doping Agency appeal for Luiza Galiulina to serve a longer ban than the six-month sanction ordered by the governing body.
Galiulina tested positive in London for furosemide, a banned diuretic, in a urine sample taken two days before the Summer Games opened last July.
The FIG said it argued that "the gymnast had already suffered adequate punishment by being excluded from the Olympic Games, and that a long suspension would effectively mean the end of her career."
Galiulina, who is 20 years old, will serve out the ban through July 2014.
