The People's Liberation Army (PLA) announced on Tuesday that it will conduct an exercise in June to test new types of combat forces including units using digital technology amid efforts to adjust to informationalized war.

It will be the first time that a PLA exercise has focused on combat forces including digitalized units, special operations forces, army aviation and electronic counter forces, said the army's general staff department.

The drill will be carried out at the Zhurihe training base in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the country's largest military training field.

Forces from the 38th and 68th combined corps of the Beijing Military Area Command, as well as eight military academies, will participate, said the department.
