\One of the three Sakyamuni tooth- relic stupa replicas, donated by China to Myanmar, arrived Yangon Wednesday via Bago as the final leg of the conveyance to be kept in the golden stupa at the Shwedagon Pagoda for public obeisance.
Of the three tooth-relic stupa replicas, two have been conveyed to Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw over the last three days in their early legs of conveyance and kept there permanently for public obeisance.
Greeting the Sakyamuni tooth-relic stupa replica at the Shwedagon Pagoda were Yangon region chief minister U Myint Swe and thousands of Myanmar Buddhist followers.
China donated the three Sakyamuni tooth-relic stupa replicas to Myanmar, aimed at enhancing ties between the two countries' Buddhist circles and peoples.
Senior monks from China will arrive later by June 21 to attend the formal hand-over ceremony of the Sakyamuni tooth-relic stupa replica at the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.
On June 1, the Buddhist Association of China (BAC) held a religious ceremony in western Beijing's Lingguang Temple, presided over by Master Chuanyin, BAC President, to send the three Sakyamuni tooth-relic stupa replicas to Myanmar via Ruili City in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The Sakyamuni tooth sarira, currently housed in a golden pagoda in Lingguang Temple, has been taken to Myanmar for public obeisance for four times in 1955, 1994, 1996 and 2011.
To enhance ties between the two countries' Buddhist circles and peoples, the BAC decided to replicate the original Sakyamuni tooth- relic stupa to three and send them to Myanmar.
