China's central bank said Monday that it had increased the quota of its rediscount operations by 12 billion yuan ($1.96 billion), a move to support the development of agriculture as well as small and micro-sized enterprises.
So far, the central bank has a total rediscount quota of 162 billion yuan, with small and micro-sized firms accounting for 25 percent and agriculture-related business accounting for 27 percent, the central bank said in a statement.
Rediscount is a monetary tool for the central bank to provide liquidity for the real economy and to promote the adjustment of the country's credit structure, the statement said.
