The owner of a purebred female dog in Guangzhou is seeking 100,000 yuan ($16,290) from the owner of a crossbred dog, accusing the crossbred dog's owner of failing to prevent his dog from "raping" her purebred.
The unnamed owner of the purebred dog called police after she found that the crossbred dog's owner, a man identified only by his surname, Lin, had irresponsibly let his dog loose to mate with her dog at the residential compound where both the owners and dogs live.
She said that her purebred is worth 1 million yuan, and that it was being studied by researchers, who required the dog not to have mated.
Lin has argued that he is not responsible for the situation, saying that neither of the owners even know which dog initiated the mating. Even though he refuses to pay the compensation, Lin has permitted the woman take his dog to be neutered.
Persistent in building a case against Lin, the woman has sent a bag of her dog's fluids for testing. But police said that it will not be charging Lin as it would be "impossible" to find proof to back up the woman's claim, adding that the accusation "lacks common sense."
