Women on the Breadfruit Tree

Serialized in Ming Pao, a leading Hong Kong newspaper, in 1994, Women on the Breadfruit Tree established author Amy Cheung as one of the most popular female writers in Hong Kong. The novel tells a story about friendship between three women and the struggles they endured from their teenage to adult years.

Wukong Biography

Released in 2000, Wukong Biography is known as the first popular online novel that was written by a Chinese mainland writer. The author Jin Hezai got his inspiration from the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West, and wrote a biography of the protagonist, the Monkey King (whose name is Sun Wukong), from a modern perspective. The stage drama of the same name is adapted from the novel by the author himself. Zhu Lin, the renowned veteran actress from Beijing People's Art Theatre, is the drama's artistic director.

Beyond Tribute Concert

The tribute band Jiaju June Days are launching a nationwide tour covering 30 major Chinese cities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of legendary Hong Kong rock band Beyond, and the 20th anniversary of the band's frontman Wong Ka-kui's passing. Formed in 1983, the four-man band shot to fame in China and other Asian countries with their distinctive Cantopop. Beyond is still considered Hong Kong's most successful and influential band.

Let It Be

The group exhibition Let It Be showcases photographic artworks from Chinese artists. Feng Fangyu, an emerging photographer based in Nanjing, is the silver medal winner of the Epson New Vision Contest in 2010. His works have been exhibited at the Berko Fine Painting Gallery in Belgium, and the Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris. Shanghai native Jiao Jian is an associate professor at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. His works were featured at the sixth San Francisco International Photography Exhibition in 2005 and the Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan, Italy.

Short Sentence, Making a Living

Artist Zhang Minjie's solo exhibition Short Sentence, Making a Living, is a video and image work which observes China's population structure since 2006. Short Sentence, Making a Living focuses on people with various jobs who have to repeat the same sentence every day to make a living. The film reflects social reality, from which audiences grasp the relationship between their living conditions and society. Zhang also completed a German Short Sentence, Making a Living based on the Germany's population structure.
