After two traffic policewomen were photographed tussling on the street in Tangshan, Hebei Province, their pictures went viral online. Explaining that the women were temporary hires, local traffic authorities, who perhaps thought distancing the women from permanent staff would help protect the reputation of the department, immediately terminated their contracts. This is yet another case of temps getting the worst end of the stick. Despite being poorly paid and having no job security or career advancement opportunities - situations that appear to encourage misbehavior - temps are still expected to represent the image of the company or organization they work for when it is the workplace that should really be held responsible. The public has been unnerved by higher-ups repeatedly abusing temporary workers as scapegoats for their inefficiencies in recent years. But when will enough be enough?
