Mago Island owner and Hollywood star, Mel Gibson plans to supply beef and other meat products to Fiji's tourism industry.
Reports on state owned radio Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Friday states that the Australian actor met with Agriculture Minister Lt Col Inia Seruiratu in Suva recently where he invited ministry officials to visit the animal stock and facilities on his island.
Deputy Secretary for Agriculture Uraia Waibuta says Gibson wants the Ministry to advice on how he can contribute to the agriculture sector.
Waibuta said Gibson had a lot of beef already on the island and was exploring how well it could be slaughtered and sent over to the resort niche market especially to the hotels here on Viti Levu.
Mago Island is located between Taveuni and the Lau group and is 5,400 acres, one of the largest privately-owned islands in the South Pacific, and virtually the size of a small country.
