Kim Bok Dong, a 87-year-old Korean woman who spent eight years as a "comfort woman" during WWII, sits beside a bronze memorial on July 30. The Glendale City Council and the Korean American Friendship Council unveiled the new statue in Glendale to memorialize Asian women who were coerced into sex slavery by the Japanese military.
