Italy won gold in the men's team foil competition, while Ukraine was first in the women's team saber contest on Monday, the final day of the 2013 World Fencing Championships in Budapest.
In the men's team foil final, Italy (Valerio Aspromonte, Giorgio Avola, Andrea Baldini, Andrea Cassara) beat United States (Miles Chamley-Watson, Race Imboden, Alexander Massialas, Gerek Meinhardt) 45-33. Third place in the men's team foils went to France (Jeremy Cadut, Erwan Le Pechoux, Enzo Lefort, Marcel Marcilloux), which overcame Russia 45-40.
In the women's team saber final, Ukraine (Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Galyna Pundyk, Olena Voronina) beat Russia (Yekaterina Dyachenko, Yana Egorian, Dina Galiakbarova, Yuliya Gavrilova) 45- 44. Third place in the women's team saber went to the United States (Ibtihaj Muhammad, Anne-Elizabeth Stone, Dagmara Wozniak, Mariel Zagunis), which beat Italy 45-30.
As far as overall results are concerned, Russia came away with 3 gold medals, 5 silver ones and 3 bronzes. Italy followed with 3 gold medals and 3 bronzes. Ukraine was third with 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
