Competition Format

The table tennis competition of 2nd Asian Youth Games, Nanjing 2013 (Abbreviation "AYG Nanjing 2013") will consist of two (2) events:

Men: Singles

Women: Singles

The Men Singles and Women Singles will be played in two (2) stages.

The competition of the first stage will be played on a group round robin basis. Each group consists of three (3) - four (4) athletes. Each match will consist of the best three out of five (3/5) games to at least 11 points. The winner of each group qualifies for the second stage competition. If the total winners are less than or beyond 16, an extra challenge round will be added in order to make total 16 athletes for the second stage.16 positions in the second stage competition will be placed on a knock out basis. In the second stage, each match shall be the best of seven (7) games with 11 points.

The losers of the Quarterfinal matches will advance to playoffs. The losers of the Semifinals matches will tie for the third place.

Number bibs for athletes to wear during competitions shall only be provided by NAYGOC. Athletes must wear the number bibs during their events. Folding, clipping or alterations to the bibs is not permitted, so as to ensure the number bibs clearly visible to the spectators.
