Geely releases first car in its Uruguay factory

Emgrand EC7, Geely's first vehicle that was assembled by NORDEX plant with CKD kits has rolled off the assembly line in Montevideo the capital city of Uruguay on August 15.

Working staff of both parties have undergone 870 days of hardworking from contracting   on March 25, 2011 to rolling out the first EC7 on August 15, 2013. It is said that NORDEX is a powerful and professional vehicle assembly factory that has been manufacturing and assembling vehicles in Uruguay for more than 50 years. It has assembled passenger cars for Renault, Citroen, and Peugeot before.

The factory is designed to produce four car models, the EC7, EC7-RV, GC2 and GX2, with the maximum annual capacity of 20,000 cars. Located in Uruguay, the factory aims to radiate the markets in Brazil and Argentina through the agreement in South American Common Market. Therefore, the factory's products will mainly be exported to Brazil and Argentina. Brazil is the largest car market in South America and also the fifth largest car market in the world, with an annual sales volume of 3.5 million passenger cars. Shanghai Geely Meijiafeng International Trade Co., Ltd. (Geely International Corporation) plans to realize the official listing of Geely brand at Brazil before the end of this year.
