Net users are outraged by a kindergarten teacher in Changsha, Hunan Province, who recently did the splits while posing on top of a human pyramid built by her students, as the children squirmed beneath under the weight of her.

A photo of the spectacle shows three rows of kids, mostly aged 4 and 5, down on all fours, stacked atop one another and sandwiched in between heavy gym mats, with a smiling teacher creating the pyramid's highest point.

Wang Hui, a mother of a child in the picture, told Changsha-based Xiaoxiang Morning Post that she was stunned that the teacher at No.1 Kindergarten affiliated with Changsha Normal University would do such a thing.

"The teacher is very happy in the picture, but did she see the expressions on the faces of the children below her?" said Wang.

The other parents were also concerned about the safety of their children, after learning what had happened in class, said Wang.

Net user Frankeenstein worried that the kids, whose bodies are still developing, could have been injured under the weight of the teacher.

Other Net users questioned why the human pyramid was taught in the classroom in the first place, to which the school responded that it was simply carrying out a "hamburger" exercise commonly used in other Chinese cities, which helps teach kids the importance of stress management and teamwork at a young age.

But the school admitted that the teacher sitting on top of the kids was improper.

Other Net users said that many people were getting too worked up over nothing.

"We played the human pyramid game when we were young all the time, I don't see what the big deal is," said Net user Genzheyilunzou.
