Argentine midfielder Walter Montillo is set to join Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng from Brazil's Santos, according to local media reports.

Both clubs ended weeks of talks by agreeing in principle to a 7.5 million-euro transfer fee, Lancenet reported.

An official announcement is expected to be made later this week.

Santos own 50% of Montillo's economic rights, with the remainder held by sports investment groups.

The 29-year-old has made 51 first-team appearances for Santos, having joined the club from Cruzeiro last year.

He has won six caps for Argentina since his international debut in 2011.
