A rock climber scaled a vertical 100-meter stretch in less than two hours near Zhangjiajie, Central China’s Hunan Province on January 25 – wearing nothing but his harness.
Li Tongxing free climbed for more than 30 meters at about 10 am before strong winds forced him to scale the smooth rock surface with the aid of climbing gear.
The mountain spire, which bears a resemblance to the head of an alpaca, is also the planned site of a new resort slated for development in Binlang Gu, a canyon in the Zhangjiajie area, according to the report.
After climbing to the top in about 100 minutes, Li waved a banner reading “Crazy for love, climb nude at once,” and hailed “I love Zhangjiajie; I love my wife.”
Li described nude climbing as not a spectacle but rather an art form that combines freedom and nature.
“Rock climbing stands for bravery, determination and struggle. Many climb to feel the power of nature and to express their awe for it. Nude climbing is just a more extreme way to express this feeling,” he said.
It took Li nearly four hours to summit the 1,490-meter Tianzhu Mountain in East China’s Anhui Province in October 2012, reported news portal anhuinews.com.
