Fight at funeral for Monkey King actor sparks speculation
An unceremonious brouhaha among relatives attending the funeral of former Monkey King actor Zhang Zongyi in the city of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province on Sunday, has shocked Chinese mainland Internet users.
The funeral for 90-year-old Zhang, who died on January 31, was held on Sunday morning. As wreaths were squashed and relatives scuffled, a man's face was injured before somebody successfully intervened to end the kerfuffle.
Famous people's families "always have problems," wrote Kaimi Januzaj. It's a simple reason, suggested Jincancann. "There was no will for the old man," he wrote. "Complicated family relationships worsen with the allocation of the assets and then they scuffled."
Pangzi wrote that "It (the funeral) resembles a sentence I like very much: 'When interests exist, everyone drops their gentle smiles.'"
