Nigeria's football administrators on Thursday officially unveiled newly designed jerseys to be worn by the senior national football team of the West African country at the FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Brazil in June, with hope for victory at the global competition.

The new jerseys, which have the national green and white colors of Nigeria, were designed by German sporting kits designer Adidas, according to Mike Umeh, vice president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

"The new jersey strikes a balance between tradition and innovation. An intense green color captured on it portrays the team as young, vibrant and fresh, and as a portrays Nigeria as a nation brimming with talents and potentials," said Umeh, at an unveiling ceremony in Nigeria's capital city Abuja.

The same jersey would be worn by all cadres of Nigeria's soccer teams, including the junior and senior female soccer teams, at all international football matches.

According to Umeh, Nigeria's Super Eagles will wear the newly designed jersey, for the first time next Wednesday, at an international friendly match against Mexico, in Atlanta, United States.

Nigeria is placed in Group F with Argentina, Bosnia and Iran, at the FIFA World Cup competition which kicks off on June 12.
