Myanmar and Russia will begin inter- governmental economic cooperation, state-media reported Saturday.
Under an agreement reached between Myanmar Minister of National Planning and Economic Development Dr. Kan Zaw and Minister for Economic Development of Russia Alexey V Ulyukaev in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday, an inter-governmental commission for trade and economic cooperation will be set up, said the New Light of Myanmar.
Both sides have discussed bilateral cooperation in trade and investment and the development of sectors such as energy, industry, aviation, agriculture, information, technology, communications and tourism.
Myanmar and Russia established diplomatic ties in 1948.
