The New Year's movie season, which began this month and ends on March 1, is set to be one of the most competitive with John Woo's latest disaster epic The Crossing - Part One, Jiang Wen's Gone with Bullets, and Hark Tsui's The Taking of The Tiger Mountain out this month.

Every year comedy is also a very welcome genre during the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Holiday.

Hong Kong comedy An Inspector Calls, directed by Wong Bak-king and starring Louis Koo and Eric Tsang, announced that it will hit theaters on the very first day of the Chinese New Year, which will fall on February 19.

Similar to the Hollywood film Get Smart, the movie, an adaptation of the British stage play, tells the story of an inspector - played by Koo - who becomes involved in the  unsolved murder of a billionaire.
