China's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and American hospitality giant MGM Resorts International officially opened The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu, in the capital of Sichuan Province on November 21.
The two companies collaborate in China through Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, the joint venture between Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and MGM Resorts International. They have previously jointly opened the MGM Grand Sanya in Hainan Province.
The grand opening of The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu was a monumental night for Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality. An extravagant affair, the ceremony kicked off with a series of dramatic Sichuan Opera performances, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the hotel.
During the ceremony, the management team of MGM gave The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu's general manager a sculpture of a lion designed by Chinese artist Ni Youyu as a present. With the form of a golden lion and a face reminiscent of a
panda, the sculpture perfectly captures the brand spirit of The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu, a unique combination of Eastern and Western cultures.
Located in the heart of Chengdu's historic Kuanzhai Xiangzi or Wide and Narrow Alleys, the hotel is designed by legendary French designer Bruno Moinard. Less than a 35-minute drive from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, the complex consists of two courtyards and features 45 elegant guestrooms, four restaurants, lounges and an exclusive club.
The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu will provide guests with exquisite banquet-level food and beverage, elegant and meticulous services, a picturesque garden and rich cultural heritage. These exclusive facilities at The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu are committed to offering guests unparalleled comfort and extravagant enjoyment.
Zhang Junsai, director general of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, is optimistic about The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu's future in China.
"We are delighted to collaborate with MGM Resorts International to launch The Diaoyutai Boutique Chengdu. We have combined the Diaoyutai style and our model of international cooperation with MGM, to provide a wonderful new hotel to a truly international Chinese city," Zhang said.
James J. Murren, chairman and chief executive officer of MGM Resorts International, said, "Our partnership with the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse reflects MGM's commitment to doing business in China. We are looking forward to a broadened cooperation in the future."
