Lisbon's cultural center Centro Cultural de Belem (CCB) kicked off this year's fado music cycle "Ha fado no Cais" Sunday, which will continue until the end of 2015 with performances by top artists including Antonio Zambujo and Luisa Rocha.

Fado, meaning "destiny," consists of mournful solo repertoires accompanied by the mellow sounds of a citern guitar, and was internationally recognized by the UNESCO in 2011 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The first performances of the year include Marta Costa Pereira on Sunday, and Marta Costa Felix, who was awarded with the Amalia Rodrigues prize for best instrumental player.

The program initiated by the Museum of Fado and CCB was first held in 2012.
