Locals in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province are hot for the dual-cabbed fire engine worth 9 million ($1.4 million) yuan now cruising their city, news portal reported on Sunday.
The Nanjing Fire Department brought the vehicle, dubbed the "double-headed dragon," from Austria to better cope with the city's narrow streets.
With a driver's cab on each end, the Austrian-made vehicle does not need to turn around, saving time during rescue and relief operations.
The truck is to serve Nanjing's historic residential communities and three tunnels.
Residents headed for the Net to spout their praises and problems with the vehicle.
One Net user wrote he was frightened when driving behind it, because it gave him the feeling it was heading toward him.
CCTV urged residents not to tail the vehicle on the road to get a better look.
The first double-headed fire engine in Asia appeared at the Shanghai World Expo on April 1, 2010.
