A fifth grader in Wuhan, Hubei Province turned her loathing for mathematics into inspired verse that has become a hit on social media, media reported on Sunday.

Jingjing, 10, surprised her mother with the sassy sonnet when she unexpectedly found it in her bag.

"Math is the root of death and it makes life like hell. It wears out children and worries parents. It expels the vitality of the school and slowly takes away life … Math is the root of death," the budding poet wrote.

Jingjing's dislike for the subject also reflects in her grades. She received a 70 percent on her math exam this semester, ranking seventh from last in her class.

Her mother, surnamed Dong, said that she never realized her daughter's resent for math ran so deep.

Jingjing told her mother two classmates who share her hatred for math also contributed to the poem.

"She's gifted, and might become another poet after Yu Xiuhua," a Net user commended, referencing the farmer-turned-poet who recently achieved fame online for her daring poem, Traveling More Than Half of China to Sleep with You in November.
