There are still 10 days left before Spielberg's Jurassic Park franchise finally returns to big screens in China. Getting in earlier, China's own dinosaur Yangchuanosaurus met with the public in the form of a life-sized sculpture at the latest China Children's Book Fair on Thursday.

According to the sculpture's creator, Zhao Chuang, Yangchuanosaurus lived in China during the Late Jurassic and received its name from its discovery site in Yongchuan county, Sichuan Province. The sculpture is based on two complete samples of fossils.

In order to make the sculpture more realistic, Zhao even added a small story synopsis for the dinosaur: An adult Yangchuanosaurus walking in the desert with scars covering its body from hunting or a fight. Zhao and his partner, writer Yang Yang, also launched their first dinosaur-themed science magazine PNSO Konglong Dawang or "Dinosaur King" at the fair. The magazine aims to introduce the story of life that has varnished from Earth.

A well-known science artist, Zhao said that the magazine will ensure dinosaurs are depicted in accordance to scientific standards in order to be as close to reality as possible. The first issue of PNSO will be released in July, with an English edition in 2016.
