The China Social Entrepreneur Foundation and NCFGroup.com Inc. hosted a press conference in Beijing on June 30 about its new Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) that aim to alleviate poverty in China.

The three-day courses cover overall e-commerce education, including how to do an online startup.

The China Social Entrepreneur Foundation developed the MOOC project to further promote the development of rural and poor areas via online-to-offline education.

The courses will be available to 100,000 people in rural areas starting from this month.

By the end of 2013, there were still 200 million people who lived below the poverty line in 832 State-level poverty-stricken counties in China.

At present, e-commerce has become a new and promising tool for China's rural economic development.

Successful cases using e-commerce for poverty alleviation have been increasing in China.
