Vehicle joint venture FAW-Volkswagen (FAW-VW) will recall 886 imported automobiles in the Chinese mainland due to potential safety hazards caused by the steering system, said the country's top quality supervisor on Thursday.

The recall, which began on Thursday, will involve vehicles manufactured from July 22, 2013 to February 25, 2015.

FAW-VW will update the software that controls the steering systems of recalled vehicles. Cars in stock will be sold after the problem is fixed, it said.
