Young artist Guan Shan's first brush calligraphy personal exhibition was held from October 11 to 16 at the new Poly Plaza. The exhibition featured 38 works of Guan, including Win, Buddhism, Harmony, Kindness, Gratitude, Traveller's Poem, and Prelude to Water Melody.
"Every stroke is from life and the heart" is the realm of calligraphy that Guan pursues. She hopes every Chinese character she writes has soul and spirit. The theme of this exhibition is "Realm has no boundaries," which implies that Guan is seeking a realm that matches with present life, while at the same time, she wants to increase the influence of calligraphy and make it cross the boundaries of time and nationality.
"Calligraphy is an approach to reach the realm, but to reach the realm, a person must be morality-oriented," she said.
Calligraphers Guan Dongsheng and Zou Yu, painter Wu Huan, Liang Xiaosheng, a professor at Beijing Language and Culture University, and Yang Guanxin, the director of China Calligraphers Association attended the exhibition.
