The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) unveiled 100 investment opportunities from around the UK to 200 Chinese investors in Beijing at its third annual China Outbound Conference on November 3. Delegations from around Britain have traveled to Beijing to present a catalogue of new investment opportunities in 13 industries and in 20 dynamic cities and regions of the UK.
Lord James Sassoon, the chairman of CBBC, attended the conference. He said CBBC is committed to promoting trade and investment between China and the UK, and in the future, he hoped that CBBC can play a greater role in economic communication between the two countries.
"We are hugely excited to have a large contingent of senior UK delegations traveling to Beijing to win investment," said Stephen Phillips, chief executive of CBBC. "We see exciting potential across the UK and in many sectors. What's more, investors are looking at a wide range of deal sizes. The conference is an excellent opportunity for companies from each side to network and learn from each other."
Financial services, retail, manufacturing and infrastructure are among the key sectors in which opportunities are being presented, as well as more traditional areas such as property. There is also an array of fast-emerging fields from education to fashion, food and drink, healthcare, media and the creative industries that are attracting widespread attention from Chinese investors as their understanding of the UK market deepens. Chinese investors are actively seeking opportunities outside London, with greenfield investment a particular growth area that will bring Chinese technologies and skills into the UK.
"Growing Chinese outbound investment is a defining trend in the commercial relationship, which will contribute to British business growth for decades to come," said Phillips. "We believe there is enormous potential for British companies to benefit from powerful partnerships with China at home and in countries around the world."
