An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted Southern East Pacific Rise at 19:44:03 GMT on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 12.05 km, was initially determined to be at 55.7757 degrees south latitude and 123.0914 degrees west longitude.
