The State Council, China's cabinet, has approved a merger between China Merchants Group and Sinotrans & CSC Holdings Co, according to a statement by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission on Tuesday. 

Sinotrans will become a subsidiary of China Merchants Group, according to the statement. Further details were not disclosed in the statement.
