A 5-year-old girl in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province was left disfigured after her older sister slashed her across the face with an electric chainsaw while mimicking one of their favorite cartoons, Chinese Business View reported Tuesday.

Zheng Luyu, a physician at People's Hospital in Xixiang county, confirmed the severity of the injuries she sustained on February 15.

"Both her nose and right cheek were cut through," said Zheng. "The wound will definitely leave a scar on her face."

The two girls, aged 5 and 10, were reportedly playing in their front yard in the city of Hanzhong when the elder sister picked up an electric chainsaw she found nearby.

The mother, who was cooking in the kitchen at the time, rushed the injured child to hospital.

According to Zheng, the 10-year-old said she was copying a scene from the Chinese cartoon Boonie Bears.

First broadcast on CCTV in 2012, the series features a pair of bumbling bears, Briar and Bramble, that work to outsmart their lumberjack adversary from cutting down their forest home.

The child was reportedly mimicking the show's antagonist, Logger Vick.

Parents have raised concerns in the past over violence on Boonie Bears involving characters wielding chainsaws, guns and axes. In March 2014, a 2-year-old boy in Jiangsu Province was injured after chopping his own hand with an axe while copying the show, media reported.
