A mother in the city of Tianjin was apparently so fed up with her son acting up in a subway station that she put him through an X-ray machine security checkpoint as punishment.

The 3-year-old had been partially scanned before security guards at the Yujiabao Subway Station could turn off the conveyor belt on Monday evening, reported jwb.com.cn.

The boy was unharmed.

The exasperated mother told reporters that the boy had been misbehaving.

He had rushed into the subway station without her and wouldn't listen, the mother said.

She apparently thought a trip through the X-ray machine would teach him a lesson.

Prolonged exposure to radiation emitted from the devices can be harmful, according to a station employee surnamed Liu.
