The Chinese Socialist Youth League’s first National Congress was held in Dongyuan, Guangzhou.
The league was the predecessor of the Communist Youth League of China. It gradually developed and became an important reserve force for the CPC.

The Communist Youth League members worked with the CPC and launched the Dec 9 Movement against Japanese aggression in Peking (present-day Beijing).
The New-Democratic Youth League of China was renamed the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) at its 3rd National Congress.

After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, the Central Committee of the CYLC convened a meeting, studying how to shift its focus to socialist modernization.
The Second Plenary Session of the 14th CYLC Central Committee reviewed and approved the Outline for the Cross-Century Development of the Work of the Communist Youth League of China.

The CPC Central Committee issued the Reform Plan for the Central Committee of the CYLC.
The CYLC Central Committee issued Guidelines on Expanding Pilot Reforms of County-Level Grassroots Organizations of CYLC.

Awakening ageAt the beginning of the 20th century, China was faced with imperialist aggression and domestic unrest, under which context the May Fourth Movement in 1919 brought about the awakening of Chinese youth and made ideological and organizational preparations for the establishment of the Communist Party of China and the Communist Youth League of China.

CYLC flagThe flag is red, symbolizing the victory of the revolution. The upper left corner is dotted with a yellow five-pointed star, surrounded by a yellow circle, symbolizing the close unity of the Chinese youth around the CPC.

CYLC emblemThe emblem is composed of the CYLC flag, a gear wheel, wheat, a rising sun and its light, and ribbon with the Chinese words CYLC written on it. Chinese youth aged 14 to 28, who recognize the constitution of the CYLC, who are willing to implement the CYLC resolutions and pay the league fee on time, can apply to join the CYLC.

By the end of 2021, there were 73.715 million CYLC members.

Anti-epidemic effortsFaced with the spread of the epidemic across China, local youth league organizations in 2021 mobilized 3.881 million members to volunteer in community work, becoming a reliable force in anti-epidemic efforts.

Poverty alleviationThe CYLC Central Committee issued guidelines clarifying the overall requirements, directions, key measures, and guarantee mechanisms for the CYLC in rural revitalization and the fight against poverty. These mechanisms include academic, employment and entrepreneurship aid as well as voluntary service to improve the organizing capability, service, leading role and contribution of the CYLC to the practice of poverty alleviation.

Disaster reliefIn 2021, faced with floods in Henan, Shaanxi and Shanxi, the CYLC mobilized members and raised social resources. The Communist Youth League of Henan alone organized more than 2,900 cadres and 222,000 college students to help with disaster relief efforts.

Winter OlympicsYoung Chinese athletes represented by Su Yiming, China's first snowboard Olympic champion, bravely challenged themselves at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, showcasing the spirit of Chinese youth with their hard work.

Border guard"Pure love, only for China." The heroes defending China and its border in the new era were awarded the "May Fourth Medal Collective" in 2021. On the journey of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the border guards are undoubtedly the most outstanding representatives.

Women's VolleyballThe Chinese women's volleyball team has achieved great results in world cups, world championships and Olympic games. They have gone through the glory of reaching the peak and the setbacks of being at a low ebb but they have never been arrogant in victory or discouraged in defeat.
