China’s science and technology industry for national defense opened its first exhibit Thursday in Beijing featuring products jointly made by military and civilian companies.

“Rapid progress has been made in converting technology for national defense to civilian use … China is gradually optimizing its policies to support military and civilian integration,” Xu Dazhe, director of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (SASTIND), said at the opening ceremony, which saw nearly 1,000 projects on display.
