Beijing held overnight dress rehearsals between August 22 and 23 for the upcoming parade to commemorate the end of World War II in the capital on September 3. The Tiananmen area and along Chang’an Avenue was cordoned off for the parade run-through, which saw more than 10,000 officers and soldiers, around 500 pieces of military equipment and 200 aircraft.
