The body of an animal is cremated in an incinerator. As pet ownership increases in China, so does a need for proper disposal of deceased pets.
An employee operates the incinerator. Though gaining popularity, a small number of pet owners in China either consider or can afford cremation services. Often times owners bury animals in area plots of land or dump the carcasses in the trash, sparking health concerns.
The employee extracts the smoldering ashes of a pet from the incinerator. Not only are the elderly choosing pet cremation as a way to say goodbye to their companions, but also younger people who see their pets as members of the family.
