Editor's Note:
Christians in Cizhong village in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in South West China’s Yunnan Province celebrated Christmas on Tuesday and Wednesday. The remote village, which is surrounded by mountains, is a melting pot of multicultural communities fostering residents belonging to three religions and seven ethnic groups. Among its 1,331 residents, 40 percent are Catholics, 35 percent believe in Buddhism and 5 percent are Dongba, an ancient religion of the Naxi people. In early 1990s, French preachers for the first time introduced the Catholic religion among the locals. The Gothic-style Cizhong Church is listed as a nation-level relic. Photos: Li Hao/GT
