A total number of 615 outbound flights and 620 inbound flights to Beijing were cancelled by 9:10 am on Wednesday, as the city raised its COVID-19 response to level 2 on Tuesday evening, aimed at preventing the current COVID-19 outbreak from spreading around the country. Beijing government also advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel in the current climate. Reporter from GT learned that scheduled flights into and out of Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) on Wednesday have significantly decreased compared with last week. Several airlines, including Air China and Hainan Airlines, have provided free refund services to their passengers. (Photos: Li Hao/GT)
