As 8-day-long National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays conclude, vacationing Chinese make return journeys to cities where they work and live.

GT reporter learned that there were about 197,000 arriving passengers on Wednesday at Beijing West Railway Station, one of the major railway stations in the capital city, and 209,000 are expected to arrive at the station Thursday.

Passengers departing from Beijing West Railway Station during this year’s National Day holiday came to 1.5 million, roughly 70 percent of last year’s figure of 2.01 million.

There were generally orderly scenes at major passenger arrival channels such as Liuliqiao bus station and Beijing-Hong Kong and Macao Expressway Thursday, the last day of the public holiday. Photos: Li Hao/GT
