Editor's Note:
Today is the 52nd World Earth Day, an annual event held to raise awareness for environmental protection. The first event was held on April 22, 1970, and it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally, involving 1 billion people in more than 193 countries and regions.
This year, the theme is “Restore Our Earth.” Unlike previous years, it also focuses on how we might actively repair ecosystems.
