Life in Kashi Prefecture, Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is colorful and delightful. Children are happily playing around in lanes with houses decorated in the style of traditional ethnic groups; women dressed in bright color are shopping with friends; and the seniors, wearing hats of different ethnic groups, are cozily sitting under the shadows of big trees, drinking tea and talking with each other. This is very different from some Western media depictions of Xinjiang, which are always depressing or dim. Here are the true colors of Xinjiang:
